Welcome...
A Message from Dr. King --
Welcome to our inaugural newsletter. We have been planning this for a long time and
now have finally realized our dreams with this November issue. It also coincides
with another dream of the hospital that has come true, we have purchased a new
state-of-the-art surgical laser. With this new laser we can offer many more
alternatives to your pet's healthcare. We are so excited about this new laser and
what it can do, that we are devoting the entire back pages of this newsletter to explain
what it offers. If you are new to our practice, I would
like to give a brief history of the practice, myself and the products and services we
offer. In the months to come, we will highlight these products and services in greater
detail as we strive to publish this newsletter bi-monthly for now and later, monthly.
I am M. Margaret King, Ph.D., DVM., the owner of Acre View Pet Hospital, Inc.
I was born in Oklahoma City and have lived in Oklahoma my entire life. I
lived in Edmond while working on my B.S. degree in Education from the University of
Central Oklahoma. I hold a Ph.D. in Medical Physiology and Biophysics from the
University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and an MBA from Oklahoma City University
with emphasis in management. I received my DVM from Oklahoma State University in
Stillwater and practiced in OKC before coming to Edmond in 1995, at which time I purchased
Acre View.
Over the last five plus years, we have added many new services and
facilities. We have state-of-the-art monitoring for pets during surgery and
anesthesia, including an apnea monitor, (in case breathing stops), a heart rate monitor
and oxygen level monitor.
A full-time technician monitors every aspect of the patient's
behavior during the anesthetic procedure. We use only isofluorane gas anesthesia,
one of the safest available. We have a complete in-house diagnostics laboratory
capable of giving you immediate chemistries, blood work or electrolyte results for you
sick or senior pet, or for added assurance of health prior to surgery. We offer
presurgical and healthy pet EKG's in addition to diagnostics for sick hearts. We have
added a 300mamp X-Ray facility and automatic processor to enhance our capabilities in
diagnostics. More importantly, this equipment will decrease client wait time and
make procedures quicker and easier for our patients. |
