Kitten Care

The doctors and staff at the Acre View Pet Hospital, Inc. would like to congratulate you on the new kitten you have added to your home.  The first few months are very important in you kitten's development, and a series of measures are recommended to help ensure its good health.  For your convenience, we have prepared the following checklist to assist you in keeping track of these items.

6 to 8 Weeks Old
A. Examination
B. FVRCP #1 Vaccination
(Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calici, Panleukopenia, Chlamydia Psittaci Vaccine)
C. Intestinal Parasite Check
D. If you wish to have your cat declawed, this can be done as early as 7-9 weeks
E. Start PROGRAM once a month flea product
   
9 to 10 Weeks Old
A. Examination
B. FVRCP #2 Vaccination Booster Shot
C. Intestinal Parasites Recheck - Please submit a fresh stool sample
D. Feline Leukemia Test / Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (Kitty AIDS) Test
E. Feline Leukemia Vaccination #1
F. Start Heartworm Prevention
   
12 to 14 Weeks Old
A. Examination
B. FVRCP #3 Vaccination - Last in the Series
C. Feline Leukemia Booster Shot
D. Rabies Vaccination
E. Start FRONTLINE TOP SPOT Flea and Tick Preventative at 12 weeks and older
   
16 Weeks Old
A. Examination
B. Vaccinate for FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis)
   
18 Weeks Old
A. Examination
B. FIP Booster
   
4 to 6 Months Old
A. Neutering (Female - Spay, Male - Castration)
*Note: We prefer to schedule surgeries by appointment, so please call several days in advance
