Acre View Pet Hospital & Laser Center of Edmond: Meet The Staff

Dr. M. Margaret King is the owner and Medical Director at Acre View Pet Hospital & Laser Center of Edmond, Inc., Dr. King was born in Oklahoma City and has lived her entire life in Oklahoma. She lived in Edmond in the late 60's when she was obtaining her B.S. in Education, Biology and Physical Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. She received her DVM from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and practiced in Oklahoma City before coming to Edmond. Dr. King also has a Ph.D. in Medical Physiology & Biophysics from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. King spent ten years caring for research and laboratory animals at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Prior to that, she did medical research there exploring the relationships of dietary fats and antioxidants on breast cancer. She did a tutelage with Dr. James Sprouse, to be able to maintain the level of care he offers especially to the English Bulldog breed. As a result she has found love for and special facilities to care for the Bulldogs. Dr. King carries on Dr. Sprouse's interest in English Bulldogs. She was honored as the Young Veterinarian of the Year for Oklahoma by the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association in 2003 and received the coveted Outstanding Former Student Award from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2003. Dr. King is very active in assisting local humane organizations in Edmond. She speaks frequently in the Edmond Schools and serves as a mentor for Edmond high school students. She sponsors many homeless and injured animals helping them find new homes.

Kelly McMahon, DVM

Originally from Waretown, NJ (a small town on the NJ shore), Dr. McMahon came to Acre View in May of 2005. Her educational background includes a BS in Biology (minor in Chemistry) from the College of St. Elizabeth and DVM from the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. When she is not working hard at Acre View she enjoys showing and riding horses. In addition to her 2 horses, Flint and Blue, she has 2 dogs, Ripley and Bob, and 2 cats, Ralphie and Ernie.

TECHNICAL STAFF

Lindsie Parks, Veterinary Assistant Supervisor

Lindsie joined the Acre View team in August of 2004. She is a Biology major at UCO here in Edmond. She is originally from Woodward, Oklahoma and graduated from Woodward High School. She shares her home with Jak, a peekapoo, and Oliver, an orange tabby cat.

Vanessa Christiansen, Veterinary Technical Assistant

Vanessa graduated Drummond high school in 1999. She has a 5 year old Schnauzer named Blitz and a 1 year old orange tabby cat named Butch. When she's not working she likes to play pool and watch movies at home.

OFFICE STAFF

Evelyn Keffer, Office Manager

Evelyn has been with Acre View since it first opened in 1995. She has an MS in Education and Library Science.

Kathy Petersen, Practice Manager

Kathy began with Acre View in 1998. She was raised in Tulsa, OK and has one daughter. Her previous work experience includes managing a multi-physician medical office in Tulsa.

Amy Curtis, Receptionist Supervisor

Originally from El Reno, OK, and a graduate of El Reno High School, Amy became a member of the Acre View staff in March of 2004. Her background includes work in nursing homes, customer service, computers, and accounting. She received her nurses assistant certification, medical terminology certificate and CPR/first aid training from Canadian Valley Technology Center in 1999. Her household includes 2 dogs (Sally and Bandit) and lots of cats.

Emily Yearwood, Receptionist

Emily joined the Acre View team in 2001 as a volunteer. Working as a kennel technician until 2004 when she moved to the front desk where she now works as a receptionist. She has 2 Great Danes, Snickers and Pooh Bear, and three cats, Hailey, Ozimo, and Puck. Emily says she likes working at Acre View because the people are great and she gets to play with puppies. It's tough work, but someone has to do it. =)

Emily Conrad, Greeter

Emily started with Acre View as a long time client. She brought Misty, her Bichon, to see Dr. King and left with a part-time job. Emily's hobbies include doing volunteer work for her church and attending Bichon club meetings and events. The best part of her job, she says, is getting love from all the dogs.

Kathryn Letourneau, Receptionist/Veterinary Technician

Joining Acre View in March of 2007, Kathryn gets her love of animals from her own pets, a Chiuaua named boomer and a cat named Isabell. She is a student at UCO. She enjoys reading, learning, and laughing.

KENNEL STAFF

Carolyn Price, Kennel Technician

Carolyn has worked at Acre View for about 8 years. Her background includes training in CPR. Her family ahs always had animals and now she helps on the farm with animal care. Her own pets include Bud, a yellow lab mix rescued from AVPH. Bud was hit by a car and hates being alone. Buddy shares the yard with Holly, another yellow lab. Carolyn describes Holly as a "talker". Carolyn has 2 black cats, Sir and Sassy, and a flame point Siamese called Baby, who runs the house. The largest of her companions is a red Missouri Fox Trotter colt called Spirit. With all these pets at home, Carolyn finds taking care of animals comes second nature. Her favorite part of working at acre view is meeting and taking care of the patients, especially giving special care to geriatric pets. Carolyn's hobbies include gardening, sewing, puzzles and horse training.

Megan Ott, Kennel Technician

Megan joined the Acre View team in August 2007. She is a student at UCO studying psychology. She shares her home with a chocolate Lab named Bella. She enjoys reading and loves Elvis. Megan loves cats and dogs but her favorite animal is the red panda.

GROOMERS

Dawn King, Pet Stylist

Dawn began offering Acre View clients her own special 'style' in 2000. She was born in Pekin, IL and received her formal training at the Academy of Dog Grooming in Peoria, IL at the age of 16. Prior to joining Acre View, Dawn managed to earn over 25 years of learning the old fashioned way - one pet at a time. Outside of work her family, 4 dogs, and Morgan horses take up most of her time. She loves her job at Acre View because of the diversity of animals we see on a daily basis.
